The GTA Technical Committee is apparently continuing its detailed consideration of the structure of an independent rate review in order that there might be cross industry agreement on a firm foundation for the future assessment of rates on an annual basis... or at least that's what the latest announcement says, with further updates promised as that review develops. As someone who led the rate reviews on behalf of the CHO (and AMA before then) for around 10 years, the independent rate review has been in the long grass for as long as I can recall. At one stage I forced a smile when John Hall proposed that Coin McLean of Autofocus should be involved. I knew where the evidence was heading with regard to Autofocus and also knew that the brown stuff was about to hit the rotating thing.
Anyway, future reviews aside, the GTA Technical Committee has unanimously proposed that daily settlement rates and charges under section 5 of the GTA in all categories will remain unchanged for the forthcoming GTA year being 1st July 2020 to 30th June 2021. If approved this proposal will apply to all future GTA claims.
GTA subscribers are invited to comment before the changes can take effect and, in any event, no later than 5pm on 31st July 2020.
