Newcastle legal firm looking to increase headcount by 100

The accident management firm report that they are looking to take advantage of new legal regulations on whiplash injuries and looking to add 100 posts in the next year.

Winn Group - which includes Winn Solicitors, Winns National Accident Specialists, On Medical, On Hire, On Insurance and Onhealth - says it is looking to offer more legal services after coming out of the coronavirus pandemic.

The group also believes that legal changes coming into force on May 31 on compensation that can be claimed by road traffic accident victims will aid its expansion.

Chief operating officer Chris Birkett said:

Winn Group is going through an exciting period of expansion as we look to continue building on solid foundations.

There’s no denying that these times have been hard for companies across the region, but our staff have worked tirelessly to maintain excellent customer service levels and keep the business moving in the right direction.

Thanks to robust contingency planning, we have been able to work through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid pandemic and now we are in a position to grow our team once more ahead of reforms in our industry. We need more excellent staff to contribute to an exciting future at Winn Group.

Winns, which is based in the Byker area of Newcastle and has been in operation for more than 20 years, currently has a headcount of around 330.

In its most recent accounts - covering the 12-month period up to March 31 2020 - Winn Holdings reported revenues of £65.8m and operating profit of £6.1m.

The company’s expansion comes as new laws come into force from the Civil Liability Act 2018.

The Whiplash Injuries Regulations, which were delayed by the pandemic, wi

ll change the amount of compensation available to people who have suffered whiplash and related injuries in road traffic accidents.

Mr Birkett said:

We’ve always been proud of our roots as a North East based company and think now, more than ever, companies should be seeking to help the region bounce back from a difficult year. We want to expand what we can offer while helping our communities in the process.
