ABI Motor Conference

I hate sending things out at 5pm, but at least it’s not a Friday.

The ABI Motor Conference 2025, catchily titled ‘Motor Insurance in a Changing World’ will take place on 8th October 2025. You can see the details at https://www.abi.org.uk/events/2025/10/motor-insurance-in-a-changing-world/

Unhelpfully, “the event will reflect on developments in credit hire – including the ongoing reform of the GTA and the potential for reform of credit hire and repair more broadly.”

I am not sure how much focus there will be since the conference only runs from 12 noon until 4.30 with a working lunch thrown in, and there are other agenda items.

Hopefully, the industry will get a chance to talk privately about any of the issues raised at the conference before any overtly supportive statements are made that might impact those people employed in the industry. The ABI is no more than a talking shop but they will be testing how far they can push the boundaries, as they did with whiplash back in the day.

I note, as regards credit hire, they say (and this is the insurers and defendant law firms attending) that delegates will understand“potential reforms to both personal injury, and credit hire and repair” after the conference. Bit presumptive but I suspect they are angling for how they will seek to influence the government through the motor insurance taskforce.
